Born in Yamaguchi, Japan, in 1947, Tanaka Masaaki lives and works in Paris.
After studying at the Institute of Engraving and the Graphic Design School in Tokyo in the 70s, the artist traveled throughout Japan and France, exhibiting at numerous art fairs where he won several prizes and honorary mentions.
His paintings, full of color, light and joie de vivre, pay tribute to both his Japanese origins and his adopted country.
In this painting, a child in a Furisode (a long-sleeved kimono for unmarried girls) stands in a sunny garden, holding a Japanese parasol.
